It’s sad to say that divinely inspired creativity is lacking and undervalued today. Social media, Hollywood, Broadway, TV, and music are the most prominent communication and entertainment platforms, making artistic creativity the most influential and powerful way of reaching people. Why aren’t the Christian performing arts fully embraced as a vital means of sharing the truth of Christ?
-Leah McCoy
Well, we have four main problems:
- Christian Performing Arts has a terrible reputation for being awkward and hokey.
- Over the decades, people have diminished the Bible to a “good read,” determining it is “unrelatable” to our world today.
- A lack of adequately trained leaders.
- A “how-to” program, step-by-step guide, and/or performing arts curriculum that fostered artistic growth, spiritual growth, and community, destroying all stigmas attached to “Church” theater didn’t exist.
After successfully writing and producing six original musicals, dozens of sketches, skits, and songs, and leading over one hundred fifty volunteers for adult and children’s ministries, Leah McCoy is thrilled to be able to share Revolutionary Theater as the foundational system, training, and structure with Theater 313. By instilling biblical truths and morals, creatives learn the tools to healthily hone artistic creativity and use their gifts on and off the stage for His glory.
Let’s break the negative stigma surrounding the Christian performing arts, create a healthy environment for Creatives to grow in and through their God-given gifts and talents, raise confident leaders, and foster community. For far too long, the enemy has twisted creativity into a toxic method of expression. Join me in starting a theatrical revolution for His Kingdom! It’s time to reclaim the stage.
